Giving Back to the Industry
|Seminars for Success is an annual event held by Integrity Mechanical of Calgary, AB to provide an opportunity for dry cleaning and laundry business owners across Canada to learn from industry experts about ways they can improve their businesses’ performance.
“We were glad to once again host our annual training seminar at our office,” said Kevin Marois, founder of Integrity Mechanical and a Fabricare Canada columnist. “We missed doing it the last two years. We feel we have been blessed and are glad to do something to help our customers improve their businesses.”
The theme this year was reFashion. “We wanted to encourage attendees to take the broken down parts of their businesses and building something stronger and better focused on what the market is now looking for. If they are leaning on the counter hoping for 2-piece suits to come in, they are going to fail. Society has changed and business needs to adapt to what today’s customers want,” said Marois.
“We were very pleased with the turn out. It was great to have face-to-face conversations. We had a lot of out-of-town people this year, including from Kamloops, Grande Prairie, Kindersley and Lethbridge.
Speakers covered topics including Company Culture, Quality Control, Customer Convenience, Building Value into your Business, and Insurance Requirements for a Small Business. There were eight sessions all focused on improving attendees businesses.
Chris White from Kreussler Chemical asked, “Are you providing the most convenient means possible to do business with you?”
Method’s for Management’s Kermit Engh urged listeners to think like business owners, not just managers. He asked what builds value in a business? Do you measure the ingredients that go in to the recipe or do you look at the meal that you are producing?
Engh was excited about the groups’ participation and discussion regarding the presentations. “By sharing my expertise and knowledge, it was my goal that all attendees leave with a clear understanding of what they need to do to increase their businesses’ profitability and efficiency,” he said.
His first presentation was titled “The eight drivers of building value in business, based on the Value Builder platform”. The second presentation, ” Do you know your numbers?” demonstrated the importance of determining production and financial KPIs crucial to running a business. These presentations introduced business owners and managers to methods to improve their businesses using practical tools and techniques.
“It was a big commitment for our customers to spend Friday evening and all day Saturday with us but I think the knowledge gained was worth it. Plus we gave away an iPad for early registration. Our goal for Seminars for Success is to help our customers succeed. If they don’t succeed, we won’t either,” said an exhausted but satisfied Marois.
We salute Kevin and all suppliers who are committed to growing and improving the industry, and demonstrate it by putting on quality programs like this one each year. For information on the next Seminars for Success, contact Integrity Mechanical at 403-236-2873 or via the website.
